The current Chief and Council are:
Chief David Crate, a respected leader and advocate for the Fisher River Cree Nation, is entering his remarkable 14th term as Chief. With a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to his community, Chief Crate has played a pivotal role in advancing the interests and aspirations of the Fisher River Cree Nation. Throughout his extensive tenure, he has been instrumental in promoting economic growth, preserving cultural heritage, and advocating for self-determination.

Delaney Mason is a dedicated and humble leader who is entering his second term as Councillor. With a genuine passion for community empowerment and a strong commitment to public service, Delaney has already made a significant impact during his first term.

Hillary Murdock is a dedicated and forward-thinking leader who is embarking on her second term as Councillor. With a passion for community development and a strong commitment to public service, Hillary has proven herself to be a valuable asset to her members.
She is also the 4th woman in the Community’s history to be elected on Council.

Darrell Thaddeus is a seasoned and respected leader who is entering his eighth term as Councillor. With a remarkable track record of public service, Darrell has been a steadfast advocate for members since he was first elected in 2009.

Barry Wilson is an accomplished and dedicated leader who was elected as Councillor on August 23, 2023. This marks his return to public office after previously serving on the Council for an impressive five terms, with his most recent term being from 2013 to 2015. With his extensive experience and deep understanding of governance, Barry is well-equipped to effectively address the needs and concerns of the members.

Chief David Crate, Councillors Darrell Thaddeus, Hillary Murdock and Cory Murdock would like to sincerely thank Councillor Carl “Poggy” Cochrane for his 20+ years of service to the community of Fisher River Cree Nation as a member of Council. Poggy’s contributions to the betterment of Fisher River Cree Nation can be felt and seen thoughout the entire community. Carl however, always had a special place in his heart of gold for Sports and Recreation events and activities in the community; whether it being participating, cutting the grass, making visitors feel welcome, prepping the ball diamonds, helping at our annual Pow Wow and the list can go on and on. First elected in 2001, Poggy’s commitment to Fisher River Cree Nation is something that absolutely does not go unnoticed, and we are happy to be able to share this with him today.
Fisher River Cree Nation is a community in which our history, language, traditions, and culture are paramount to who we are as a people. We will protect and maintain the spirit and intent of the treaties and our inherent rights. Fisher River will be a self-sustaining progressive community with a strong and accountable government. We will provide an environment where all people are healthy, safe, and respected.
